The latest version of Whatsapp just killed the most notable feature of Whatsapp which is “Whatsapp Status” however whatsapp released a new way to share your Whatsapp status which is more like snapchat and probably many are hating the new feature. In this guide I am going to explain you two methods to get back Old Whatsapp Status Features and Disable the new Whatsapp Status feature

Method #1 (Required Root)

Requirements:
1. You need a rooted device for this method
2. Any Root File Explorer or SharedPreferences Editor

Steps:

1. Force Stop WhatsApp before proceeding.

1. a. For Root Explorers, open the file ‘/data/data/com.whatsapp/shared_prefs/com.whatsapp_preferences.xml
b. For SharedPreference Editors, select ‘WhatsApp’ and then select ‘com.whatsapp_preferences‘.

2. Find the key name: ‘status_mode‘ and edit its value from ‘1’ and make it as ‘0’.

For text editors, change

Code:
<int name="status_mode" value="1"/>

to:

Code:
<int name="status_mode" value="0"/>

3. Now, launch WhatsApp and you will not see the new Whatsapp Status Feature.

Method #2

You cannot directly downgrade Whatsapp if you have updated to the latest version of Whatsapp, However you can do this via downloading Whatsapp Apk files.

Step-1

Go to Settings > Security  and toggle on the Unknown Sources option that will allow you to install apps from third-party sources.

Step-2

You’ll get a prompt warning you that installing apps from unknown sources could put your device at risk. Tap on OK.

Step-3

Open WhatsApp on your device and go to Settings > Chats > Chat Backup to take a complete backup.

Step-4

Uninstall WhatsApp from your device.

Step-5

Open your smartphone browser and go to this link. I tried several recent versions of WhatsApp, but version 2.17.60 worked perfectly fine for me. Download V2.17.60 APK file.

Step-6

Go to the Downloads folder on your Android phone and tap on the downloaded APK file.

Step-7

On the next screen, tap Install at the bottom right to begin the installation.

Step-8

Once it’s installed, open the app, agree to WhatsApp’s terms & conditions, verify your phone number, restore the backup, and enjoy the old version of the messaging service.
