Akasa’s Latest Storage Dock Makes M.2 SSD Data Transfers and Cloning Easy

PC accessories maker Akasa has launched a new desktop storage station aimed at making data transfers and cloning M.2 SSDs as easy as possible.

The DuoDock MX(Opens in a new window) ((AK-DK09U3-WH) contains two M.2 drive slots with support for PCIe Gen 4, Gen 3, and Gen 2 drives. It enables fast data transfers (up to 10Gbps) across using a USB 3.2 Gen 2 connection to a PC Alternatively, this is a very convenient plug-and-play method for cloning an M.2 SSD: just insert two drives and press the dedicated clone button on the front (no PC needed).

A cover can be attached to protect inserted discs during data transfers. Akasa has also included a built-in fan to deal with the heat that M.2 drives can produce during heavy data transfers at high speeds for an extended period of time.

The docking station is relatively small, measuring just 93 x 93 x 132mm, and it’s compatible with Windows 8/10/11, macOS 10.15.6 or higher, and Linux 5.4 or higher. Akasa is making it available for purchase in the US, UK, and across Europe for around $105. Included in the box alongside the docking station is a power adapter and a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C cable.
