New Delhi: NI (formerly National Instruments Corporation), a Texas-based producer of automated test equipment and virtual instrumentation software, and Seagate Technology Holdings, a U.S. data storage infrastructure solutions company, announced on Wednesday a new joint venture to improve data storage and transfer services, including a record one-of-a-kind Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) offering. The announcement was made during NI Connect, a digital event hosted by NI for engineers.

The new ADAS recording offering combines NI’s high-performance on-board data recording systems with Seagate’s data transfer and edge storage services, enabling OEMs and vendors to more efficiently leverage data to deliver the safety and reliability of autonomous vehicles in the future.

The event mentioned the importance of real-time road data and how the latest autonomous vehicles depend on it more than ever, highlighting the importance of efficient data storage. OEMs and vendors can modernize their data storage strategy from Self-Management to Storage as a Service (StaaS) with this innovative ADAS recording offering, resulting in lower costs and more efficient storage. Seagate’s Lyve Mobile data storage and transfer service is paired with NI’s Data Record System AD on-board data logger for ADAS and autonomous vehicles.

Seagate’s Lyve Mobile accelerates access to data collected by autonomous vehicles for analysis and optimization of algorithms. Lyve Mobile Array can be mounted directly on the trunk of a vehicle and stores all data in real time. Once the data logging path is complete, it can be transported to the nearest edge data center and the data can be transferred directly for immediate use.
